star.png FileCloud Server: Recent and Coming Updates
We hope you’re having a great month! Here’s an update on what’s new with FileCloud. In May, we’ll be releasing FileCloud Server 21.1. Some highlights of upcoming features include role-based access control and a new Drive UI.
  • Role-based Access ControlOver the years, FileCloud has grown into a complex product used by exceptionally large enterprises with multiple levels of administrators. The current classification of users accessing the admin portal is no longer satisfying the needs of these enterprises. By customer demand, we are replacing the current promoted admin management with a more robust Role-based Admin User Management (RBAUM). This will give more granular control of admin user privileges in the admin portal, achieving the precision and flexibility desired by large organizations when managing promoted admins.
  • New Drive UIOur new and improved Drive UI emphasizes clarity and ease-of-use. Here is a preview of the new look.

star.png Easily Collaborate with FileCloud Team Folders
FileCloud’s Team Folders simplify file sharing and collaboration by offering common folders that teams can use to share and manage documents. A team folder can only be created by admins or authorized users, and once shared with the team, the folder is instantly available to all members of the team. What makes FileCloud’s Team Folders different? Many of our competitors in the enterprise file sharing and sync (EFSS) market use the waterfall permissions model in their Team Folder implementation (i.e. team members have the same permission level in sub-folders as they do in top-level folders). This rigid sharing model doesn’t fit most enterprise’s information sharing needs and increases data leak risks. On the contrary, FileCloud’s Team Folder system offers a granular sharing model for folders and sub-folders so that administrators can limit team member access to any sub-folders independent of top-level folder permissions.
  • Centralized Content Management Instead of creating multiple individual file shares among users, organize files and folders in a centralized place using Team Folders.
  • Easy Provisioning Provision new users quickly and setup access to specific files and folders through Team Folders. You can grant immediate access to new files by uploading them to the right Team Folder.

  • Granular Control of Folders Give Team Folders and their sub-folders granular permissions for users with Read, Write, Share and Sync access.

  • Manage Selective SyncSelect specific Team Folders and enable or disable sync permissions on an easy to manage user interface in the admin portal.
