Remote Access to Network Folders without VPN
With the increasing shift to working from home worldwide, maximize your FileCloud’s installation value by providing a seamless and secure, remote access to your file servers from anywhere.
There is no need to inflict slow and cumbersome VPN on your remote employees to access and edit documents. Not to mention, how much on-going training and maintenance headaches it comes with.
With FileCloud, you can let your employees access files using their fast internet connection and from any device without needing to constantly switch back and forth. FileCloud works with your existing infrastructure as-is and you can be up and running in minutes. Here’s how:
Step 1: Add your Network Folders to FileCloud
Using the Admin portal, add your network folders to FileCloud and then assign who has access. FileCloud honors existing NTFS permissions on network folders and applies them to user access which eliminates the need to recreate access permissions in FileCloud.
Step 2: Allow remote access via a web browser or mobile apps
Your employees can sign on through the web interface or use the mobile apps to access the entirety of your network shares for fast access. It should be possible to download, edit and upload files and share them within your organization or outside quickly.
Step 3: Allow remote access as a drive Connect to your files remotely using our FileCloud Drive application (Windows or MacOSX), which makes the network folders show up as a drive letter in Windows Explorer or Finder. This provides invisible access to remote files as if they were connected to the computer you are working on. FileCloud Drive also provides automatic file locking to prevent others from editing the file at the same time.
FileCloud Drive needs a working internet connection to work with remote files, but if you need to edit files even without an internet connection, use our FileCloud Sync app to download files for offline editing.
