New Braunfels Utilities is a community-owned public power company in Texas. As a non-profit company with thousands of customers, NBU has the same business requirements as any other large commercial company: efficiently and securely store and share internal data. However, NBU also has requirements unique to their ongoing operations: to manage the data that comes from the many daily site visits in the community.
As a community-owned utility, NBU is about more than simply providing excellent electricity, water, and sewer services – their customers are neighbours and friends. Customer service and data security are an integral part of their ongoing success.
Keeping customer information and operational procedures secure was an ongoing challenge for NBU. Inefficient and insecure data sharing leads to security breaches. For NBU, security breaches are not an option. This is where FileCloud Server can help any organization.
As a company with thousands of customers, NBU stores and shares a huge amount of data and files. Employees need an easy way to share documents internally and with external vendors, always with the guarantee that the data is secure. This is especially important for information such as pictures of daily site visits. Secure and efficient file sharing plays an integral role at NBU.
Before discovering FileCloud, NBU had been sharing data and moving files very haphazardly – using a combination of personal DropBox and Google Drive accounts along with email. Sharing data and files in such a manner makes it difficult for administrators to secure data as it is shared across many different channels and with software outside of its control. Using less secure personal accounts and email leaves a company open to data breaches and system infections. It also causes internal administrative headaches and lowered productivity due to inefficient and inconsistent processes.
NBU needed something different. They chose FileCloud Server.
